Trump’s war in Iran has spiked gas prices at home, while Big Oil companies jack up prices and squeeze American consumers.

As gas prices skyrocket to over $4/gallon, two bills have been introduced that would rein in Big Oil’s greed by stopping exports of U.S. gas during periods when gas prices are high, and by putting a tax on excess oil profits to return to American consumers.

I urge you to support and pass the Gasoline Export Ban Act of 2026 (H.R.8266) and the Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act (H.R.7960/S.4111) to curb Big Oil’s greed and secure fair prices for American consumers at the pump.

Big Oil companies are squeezing U.S. families while raking in massive gains - more than $30 million in windfall profits every hour during the first month of Trump’s war in Iran. We need action by Congress to curb this irresponsible profiteering as gas prices soar to over $4/gallon and continue climbing.

The Gasoline Export Ban Act of 2026, introduced by Representative Ro Khanna, would stop shipments of refined gasoline from the U.S. to other countries when national gas prices average $3.12 a gallon or higher — keeping domestic gasoline supplies at home, and lowering the cost of gas for U.S. consumers.

The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act, introduced by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representative Ro Khanna, would enact a tax on the windfall profits of oil companies as they exploit world events to jack up prices. Revenue raised would be returned to the pockets of everyday Americans in the form of a quarterly rebate.

At a time when families are already struggling with skyrocketing energy bills caused by money-driven AI schemes from the tech industry, fossil fuel companies must be held accountable.

I urge you to step in and take action to defend your constituents against Big Oil’s greed and skyrocketing gas prices by passing the Gasoline Exports Ban Act and the Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act.
