We're fighting for clean drinking water for Iowans. Learn more and share your experience!

Our water, our health, and our quality of life should not be sacrificed for corporate profit margins.

That’s why Food & Water Action has been organizing and building power in Iowa for over a decade. Through grassroots organizing, we are harnessing the frustrations of Iowans across the state and turning that into action.

Our goal is to push elected officials from both parties to treat water pollution as the crisis it really is.

Food & Water Action believes there should be mandatory rules that industrial agriculture has to follow, and that the state should be monitoring pollution in the most critical areas. We’re knocking doors and having thousands of conversations with voters about real solutions to the water and cancer crisis, and we’ve endorsed 27 clean water champions for state and federal office in 2026. It takes a movement to take on corporate power and win real change.

Read on to learn more about this issue, and answer some questions about your experience and how to get involved.

Your Information

There are over 830 impaired waters across the state, and local utilities are struggling to provide safe drinking water to residents. Cancer rates in Iowa are rising faster than any other state. Meanwhile, industrial agriculture has a free pass to pollute and virtually no accountability.

We all have a story about how the water crisis and reckless water pollution here in Iowa have affected our lives or the lives of a loved one. We invite you to share your experience to help shed light on the real impact of our polluted waterways on our health and quality of life.

What are you going to do with my story?

To win regulations on Big Ag, we’re going beyond the numbers and showing how real families are being affected. Your and others’ stories illustrate how polluted water affects Iowans in similar and different ways, making it harder for Big Ag to call your lived experience an outlier.

We will not share any story or any information you share on this survey without your explicit and clear consent after following up with you. The survey platform we use, Engaging Networks, keeps your data secure and protected, and only select members of our Iowa team will have access to your data.
